Freshman Deadline for Fall of 2019: November 1, 2018

Apply as a freshman if you are currently in high school, even if taking college courses. If you are enrolled in a dual-enrollment program and anticipate having enough college credits to earn an associate’s degree, you are also required to apply as a freshman.

Submit Florida State University Application

Complete the Florida State University application and pay the $30 application fee. For full instructions on completing the University application, review the instructions on the Office of Admissions website. Please be sure that all requirements for the FSU application have been met by November 1, 2018.

  • Self-Reported SAT or ACT Test Scores
  • Self-Reported Student Academic Report (SSAR)
  • FSU Resume/Essay

To apply for the College of Motion Picture Arts, you must select one of the following majors:

Motion Picture Arts – Production
or
Animation and Digital Arts

Upload Film Supplemental Materials

Complete the Motion Picture Arts Checklist on your Status Page by first answering the questions found in the Film Supplemental Application. Once that form has been received, you can upload the following required creative documents:

  1. Resume
  2. Personal Statement
  3. Writing Sample
  4. Creative Portfolio

In addition to these creative documents, the College also requires 2 Letters of Recommendation.

Undergrad Admission - Transfer

Transfer Deadline for Fall of 2019: January 15, 2019
Note: If you are applying to transfer majors within FSU, the application is not currently open but will open soon.

A 3.0 GPA in all college coursework is required for our program. Because of the number of credit hours required to complete the major, the ideal candidate would apply before their junior year due to the size of the major.

Set Your Next Scene

Ready to make your mark with an MFA degree in Production? If so, please carefully review the requirements listed below as admission is highly selective—we’re scouting the boldest and brightest storytellers to join us at the FSU Film School.

Applicants must have completed a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, and must have at least a 3.0 GPA in upper-division coursework (all undergraduate courses completed after reaching 60 credits).

Applicants are not required to have previous experience in film production or film-related coursework. However, strong candidates should be able to demonstrate an active interest in visual and/or narrative storytelling through coursework, internships, creative works, job experience, and/or compelling life experiences, and how that experience will help make them strong filmmakers.
