Undergraduate Programs

BFA in Production

Students are admitted to Motion Picture Arts only in the Fall Semester. We admit a freshman class and a sophomore-in-college transfer class. Each fall, approximately 20 freshmen film majors merge with a class of approximately 10 transfer students, and begin the Motion Picture Arts seven semester production program. Freshmen spend their freshman year (the first two semesters) at Florida State University completing the university liberal arts requirements.

BFA in Animation and Digital Arts

The new BFA major in Animation and Digital Arts will afford students opportunities to work side-by-side with industry professionals on high-profile media projects, conduct research on cutting-edge technologies that have possible applications in the film industry, and become “Digital Domain Certified” in an area of professional specialization of their choice.

Minor in Film Studies

The Film Studies minor offers students the opportunity to select a program of study that examines the many facets of American and international films. The interdisciplinary nature of the program allows students to experience different approaches to film study: film and cultural differences, basic film vocabulary, film history, film and social forces, film genres, film theories, film directors and film aesthetics.

The Torchlight Program

The Torchlight Program is a non-degree granting academic program designed to enhance the education of film students by providing instruction in current and emerging business practices of the motion picture industry.

Current Torchlight Program Filmography

Students in the Torchlight Program have had the opportunity to present, market, publicize, promote and otherwise theatrically distribute ground-breaking independent films in a variety of markets throughout the United States and Canada.
