Admission Requirements for the Bachelor of Fine Arts - Production Program
Motion Picture Arts is a limited access program: separate applications must be made to The Florida State University Office of Admissions and to The College of Motion Picture Arts. The deadline to apply for the BFA in Production was October 15, 2012.The next available application window will be for Fall of 2014. The application opens in August.
An applicant seeking to enter Motion Picture Arts must meet the grade point average and test score requirements described by the University’s Office of Admissions.
The Motion Picture Arts application package consists of the following items. All materials must be submitted by the deadline, or your application will be incomplete and will not be reviewed by the admissions committee. All application materials must be submitted electronically via the on-line application. Please DO NOT send items via mail, overnight delivery, or fax.
The College of Motion Picture Arts does not allow BFA applicants to submit portfolio items as part of the application.
Transfer students are welcome to apply to the program. Transfer student must complete no less than 27 hours of liberal studies requirements before admission, to be completed prior to the start of Fall classes.
Approximately 48 freshman and 24 transfer applicants will be invited for mandatory on-campus interviews with the Motion Picture Arts admissions committee. Those selected to interview for the Fall of 2013 will be notified at least 10 days prior to the interview session. Interviews will take place from late February through March of 2013; specific dates have not yet been determined.
All students must maintain a “B” average in all major requirements. Continuation as a major in Motion Picture Arts will depend on the development of each student’s talents, skills, professional discipline and academic record. A student’s work and commitment are under continuous review, and any candidate who fails to maintain high standards will be dismissed from the program.
